digital detox (for social media) and grieving for those damned dogs
We decided last weekend that we’d do a Digital Detox starting this next Sunday, and neither of us really thought it through. Late last night (or two nights ago, at this point), Miriam turned to me and said, ‘You remember what we agreed to last weekend?’ In a split second, it all came rushing back… Continue reading digital detox (for social media) and grieving for those damned dogs
FC Bayern loses again and we had another pretty good weekend
When they lose, I’m a bit happier. And this week? They’re playing my favourite English side. No-one in all of Europe would be surprised if the mighty Bayern wins. Nobody. Except me. I’ll be surprised if Spurs lose. I’m all in for Tottenham. All in.
GTT – gone to Texas
“It is good that a man’s enemies want him dead, for it proves he has lived a life of worth.” Forrest Carter, The Outlaw Josey Wales “You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas.” Davy Crockett As you might’ve surmised after reading the headline or the above quotes, we’re headed to Texas.… Continue reading GTT – gone to Texas
autumn leaves and keeps on leaving
One of those perfect autumn days that is so golden and perfect you know it’s precious. You know it won’t last. People meet our baby, who would be more accurately called a toddler if she just toddled a bit more, and inevitably they look you straight in the eyes as they say, ‘Enjoy every moment… Continue reading autumn leaves and keeps on leaving

Before she… Continue reading Daddyblogging was a bad idea because…
relaunching this blogging lark with a whimper in the night
Watching baseball in the middle of the night with a newborn in one arm and scattered thoughts running through my brain, I’m reaching for a decent explanation of why my digital scrawling is worthy of your (or even my) attention. For the last several years I haven’t bothered sharing my life’s minutiae, as I did… Continue reading relaunching this blogging lark with a whimper in the night
Come let me make your February a bit bluer
Despite being inundated with ridiculous romcoms and even sillier pop songs, a rather boisterous part of me has resisted romantic love for a good part of my adult life. I remember at some point reading that Frank Zappa quipped that he thought the expectations people had of romance actually killed any hope of that love… Continue reading Come let me make your February a bit bluer
Thirteen years old…Still fit as fiddles…are we Italian now?
Here’s an announcement: We’re thirteen now! On the thirteenth of January. Who wants to party? Anyone in Liguria (Italy), should come over. Now! Bring your Party Stimmung, as they say back in the old country. When we think of all the nonsense our Ken has put us through. Sunrise jogging through Vienna years ago, hiking… Continue reading Thirteen years old…Still fit as fiddles…are we Italian now?
“Moving on up…
…to a deluxe apartment in the sky…” Haven’t blogged in a while and look it’s already 2018, and it seems it’s time to fill you in on a few things. Living in Italy now, well at least part time. With the ball and chain, you dig? She’s being adorable and I’m sleeping better. Ella and… Continue reading “Moving on up…
